Let’s talk about something that isn’t nearly as fun as lace, necklines and trying on beautiful wedding dresses.

Money.

More specifically: How much should I expect to spend on my wedding dress?

It’s one of the most common questions brides have before shopping - and sometimes one of the questions they feel the most uncomfortable asking.

We don’t think it should be.

At Blush Bridal Studio, we talk about your wedding dress investment because that’s exactly what it is: one piece of your overall wedding that you are choosing to invest in.

And just like every other part of your wedding, there isn’t one number that is right for everyone.

Our goal isn’t to tell you what you should spend.

It’s to help you understand what wedding dresses cost, decide what feels comfortable for you and then help you find a dress you absolutely love within that investment.

So, let’s talk about it.

How Much Do Wedding Dresses at Blush Cost?

We believe in being transparent about this before you ever walk through our doors.

Wedding dresses at Blush Bridal Studio begin at $1,400, with most of our brides investing approximately $1,799-$2,399 in their gown.

We also carry gowns above that range, giving our brides a variety of choices in style, designer and price point.

Knowing this before you book is important.

We never want a bride to arrive at Blush, fall in love with our collection and then discover that our gowns are outside the amount she feels comfortable spending.

That isn’t a good experience for anyone.

There are beautiful wedding dresses available at many different price points, and part of choosing where to shop is making sure the boutique and its collection align with what you would like to invest.

Why Does One Wedding Dress Cost More Than Another?

This is a great question.

You can look at two wedding dresses that seem relatively similar and wonder why one costs significantly more.

There are a lot of things happening behind the scenes.

The designer, fabrics, construction, structure, lace, beading, embroidery and amount of handwork can all influence the price of a gown.

A clean, seemingly simple wedding dress may actually require incredibly precise construction to create its shape.

An intricately beaded gown may include hours of detailed work.

A lace gown may use several different types of lace layered together to create the finished design.

Wedding gowns are unusual garments. They often contain structure and construction that you never see from the outside.

So while price doesn't determine whether a dress is beautiful - or whether it's right for you - it can reflect the materials, craftsmanship and design that went into creating it.

Before You Shop, Decide What Feels Comfortable

We encourage brides to think about their wedding dress investment before their first appointment.

Not because you need to create a rigid number that can never change.

But because knowing what feels comfortable gives you and your stylist a starting point.

Maybe you know you would feel great investing up to $2,000.

Maybe you've decided the dress is one of your highest wedding priorities and you're comfortable spending more.

Maybe you have some flexibility if you find something truly special.

All of those answers are perfectly okay.

The important part is that the number is yours.

Try not to base it on what your friend spent, what someone on TikTok says a wedding dress “should” cost or what a family member assumes dresses cost.

Think about your overall wedding priorities and decide what feels right for you.

Please Don't Be Embarrassed to Talk About Your Investment

We promise, you will never offend your stylist by telling her what you want to spend.

In fact, please tell us.

Knowing your comfortable investment helps us do our job better.

If you tell your stylist that you'd like to stay around $1,800, that isn't limiting the experience.

It's giving her valuable information.

She can focus on gowns that fit your style and your investment rather than having you fall in love with a dress you never intended to spend $3,000 on.

We want you to feel excited when you find your dress - not immediately anxious when you look at the price tag.

Talking openly about your investment helps us protect that experience.

Should I Try On a Dress That's Over My Investment?

This can get tricky.

Maybe your comfortable investment is $2,000, but there's a $2,400 dress you can't stop looking at.

Should you try it?

Our answer is: let's talk about it first.

If you know there is absolutely no circumstance in which you would spend $2,400, we probably shouldn't put you in that dress.

Not because you don't deserve to wear it.

Because falling in love with a dress you know you won't purchase can make every dress afterward feel like a compromise.

But if you tell us, “I'd really like to stay around $2,000, but for the right dress I have some flexibility,” that's different.

There aren't hard rules here.

It's simply another reason why communication between you and your stylist matters.

Don't Forget About Alterations

This is an important piece of planning your overall wedding dress investment.

Alterations are separate from the purchase price of your wedding gown.

Wedding dresses are ordered according to a designer's size chart, but they are not custom-made to your exact body. Most gowns will need some level of alterations to achieve the fit and length you want.

The cost can vary considerably depending on the gown, the changes being made and the alterations professional you choose.

If you're planning your wedding attire investment, leave room for alterations rather than putting every available dollar toward the gown itself.

You'll be glad you did.

What About Veils and Accessories?

Your dress doesn't necessarily have to be the end of your bridal look.

You may fall in love with a veil.

Maybe it's earrings, a headpiece or another finishing detail that suddenly makes everything come together.

Accessories are completely personal, and not every bride wants the same things.

But if you know you'd love to complete your look with a veil or accessories, it's worth thinking about those as a separate part of your overall bridal attire investment.

Sometimes the moment a veil goes on is the moment everything suddenly feels very real.

Special Order vs. Purchasing From the Collection

At Blush, some brides purchase a gown through a special order, while others may purchase a gown directly from our collection.

A special-order gown is ordered from the designer for you in the size selected according to the designer's size chart.

A gown purchased from the collection is the actual dress you tried on in the studio, which means you can take your dress home much sooner.

One important thing to know:

Purchasing from the collection does not automatically mean the dress will cost less.

Sometimes there may be savings available on a particular gown, but that isn't always the case.

There can, however, be other benefits - including taking your dress home sooner and having more time available for alterations.

Your stylist can walk you through the options available for the gown you love.

A Higher Price Doesn't Automatically Mean a Better Dress

We really want brides to hear this.

The most expensive dress in the store isn't automatically the best dress.

And it certainly isn't automatically your dress.

We've watched brides choose a gown well below the top of their investment range because it was simply the one.

Once you put on the dress that makes you feel incredible, the fact that another gown has more beading, more lace or a higher price tag doesn't matter.

We're not trying to find you the most expensive wedding dress you can afford.

We're trying to find your wedding dress.

There's a big difference.

Your Investment Is Personal

Weddings have a funny way of creating a lot of “shoulds.”

You should spend this much.

You shouldn't spend that much.

The dress is the most important thing.

No, the venue is the most important thing.

Spend more on photography.

Spend less on flowers.

Everyone has an opinion.

But your wedding isn't everyone else's wedding.

Maybe you've dreamed about your wedding dress forever and it's one of the things you care about most.

Maybe you want something beautiful, but you'd rather put more of your wedding investment toward an incredible honeymoon.

Neither bride is doing it wrong.

You get to decide what matters to you.

The Goal Isn't to Spend More. It's to Shop With Confidence.

Knowing your wedding dress investment before you shop isn't meant to take the romance out of finding your dress.

Actually, we think it does the opposite.

When you know what you're comfortable spending, you can relax.

You can try on dresses knowing they're realistic possibilities.

You can fall in love without wondering whether you're about to get an unpleasant surprise.

And you and your stylist can focus on the thing you actually came to do:

Find a wedding dress that makes you feel beautiful.

At Blush Bridal Studio, we'll always be transparent with you about pricing, we'll listen to the investment you've shared with us and we'll help you navigate your options.

No awkwardness.

No judgment.

Just an honest conversation about what feels right for you.

Because finding your wedding dress should feel exciting.

And knowing what to expect - including what you can expect to invest - is part of creating that experience.
